Top Tips for Visiting the Sligo Fleadh 2015

Sligo has won the bid Fleadh Cheoil Na héireann 2015 after the immensely successful 2014 Sligo Fleadh. With over 350,00 people travelling and enjoying the festivities of the week from  the talent of musicians and dancers that displayed the high level of skills, to how clean the town was kept by its volunteers. We are now all looking forward to the of 9-16th August week’s  hoopla. To help you and the family get the most out of your trip we have helpful tips for parking, transport, gigs, competitions and more… 

Fleadh 2015

Parking and Public Transport 
Sligo Town has numerous car parks ranging from hourly to daily car parks that are monitored by Private parking companies and the local county council. The main outside of the town car parks  would be the most suitable for parking for the week of the Fleadh as the town centre will have lots of diversions. 

  • Carraroe Retail Park, Cairns Road
  • Knocknarea Arena - Institute of Technology Sligo
  • Cleveragh Retail Park / Doorly Park

 There is public transport to the town centre from these car parks. Here is the PDF of public buses around Sligo Town for 2015.

The centre of Sligo has 15 different public car parks, these will fill quickly during the week, so arrive early. Some of these car parks may be closed, so please check out the county council’s list of parking available for the Fleadh. These are all Pay & Display car parks. See here for more details

Knocknarea Sligo

There are daily trains that run from Dublin to Sligo that run every two hours or so, these stop in Ballymote & Collooney before bringing you in the centre of Sligo. Gigs,Recitals and Competitions

From the Monday right through to the Sunday 16th there is a huge range of dramatic experiences in the Factory,Hawkswell Theatre, the Model , traditional music in Sligo’s infamous pubs across the town and mesmerizing dancing competitions in Knocknarea and other locations. The music will be heard across the town all week as buskers take to the street to exhibit their talents for all to enjoy. There will be a wide range of the finest food, available all over the Sligo Town. We will be a little biased and recommend Lyons Café and Bakeshop Sligo to get your top quality, freshly-made, gourmet lunches, salads, sandwiches, sweet desserts and all the teas and coffees you need to stay engerised.
